Farm Truck Brewing in Medford has only been open for 2 1/2 years, but already they are expanding with a second location which is coming to Audubon NJ, taking over the space which was recently vacated by Red, White and Brew.
I chatted with co-owner Brooke this morning who filled in some of the details of their plans… to be clear, not only will the Medford location remain open, Medford is undergoing a large expansion in both space and capacity!
It was just a month ago when I wrote about Red, White and Brew’s last day in the Audubon building. The location on Merchant Street is a classic old bank building which really is an amazing venue for a brewery with its two-story tall atrium-like room, as well as a second floor overlook space which had not been used by Red, White and Brew.

While the news of the Farm Truck Audubon location had been circulating throughout the craft brewing community for a few weeks now (and was covered recently by NJPen (paywall), it was just a few days ago when Farm Truck Brewing owners Brooke and Jay published an Instagram video confirming the Audubon location (Instagram)
The guys were actually standing within the Audubon space as they filmed it… although they state in the commentary their lease does not start until April 1st.

It’s exciting positive news for the South Jersey Craft Beer industry to see the Farm Truck team expanding so quickly particularly when there is a fair amount of sad news in the industry.
Focusing on the positives, similar success has been achieved by Marvin at Swedesboro Brewing who now operates three breweries including the Raccoon Taproom in Collingswood and Third State in Burlington. Tonewood has two locations (Oaklyn, Barrington), Mudhen is booming in Wildwood as a brewpub, and Bonesaw now has locations in Glassboro and Deptford.

What started out as a vision for us has quickly turned into reality. We started this journey on the premise of delivering the best possible beer & experience we could dispense. We didn’t want to be 4 walls you drink beer in. We wanted a spirited tap room where strangers, friends & family would gather to create memories. Where creators could spawn new ideas & prove craft beer doesn’t have to be boring. We blend the love for a good time with a passion for music & most importantly beer. It hasn’t always been easy & fun but we wouldn’t trade it for the world. You all make this possible for us everyday & we couldn’t be more appreciative. Thanks for believing in a dream that was loosely thought up and has over come each & every bump in the road along the way. We love each & every one of YOU!
Brooke, Jay & the Farm Truck Family (Regarding the Medford location in June 2024)
For the Farm Truck announcement video in Audubon, on hand with Brooke and Jay was their brewer Kenny who will be moving over to the Audubon brewery.
New Jersey brewery law requires that any beer sold within the tasting room has to be made on site, so with that said Brooke stated that brewer Kenny will be moving over to Audubon to recreate the Farm Truck classics in Audubon, but also expects to create some fun new brews specifically for the Camden County location.

This is huge news for the South Jersey craft beer community, Audubon, and particularly the small Audubon Merchant Street commercial district which has really benefitted from having a brewery on the street.
The now closed Red, White and Brew brewery had become a central hub for that retail and restaurant area both in customer traffic for local restaurants, as well as being a center point for some of the downtown Audubon events.
And it seems Farm Truck is a perfect match to keep that Audubon excitement going!

When they filmed the video a few days ago it was stated to do their “due diligence” which likely includes gathering information from the space so they can plan any upgrades and renovations ahead of the opening.
But according to my phone call with Brooke they have already made some key decisions. Live music and bands have been a big part of the Medford Farm Truck Brewery experience and they are carrying that awesome aspect into Audubon.
To that point, in the upcoming Audubon location, Farm Truck will be removing the refrigerator units that were located within the main space and build a performance stage at that end! Some may remember.. that previously the building featured a stage in that exact spot!
For brewing equipment in Audubon, the team is moving the Medford brewing equipment over to Audubon, and Medford will be getting an all-new much larger 20bbl system!
And one last “preview” key decision… the upper level mezzanine wasn’t used for the prior brewery, but Farm Truck will be fully remodeling it to offer a variety of spaces including private areas.

Regarding the opening for the brewery, the most simple answer is Summertime! The guys had an amusing exchange regarding the opening date which started out with Brooke saying June, July, August followed by a quick.. maybe September.
How awesome are the owners? In the video the say “We take over the space on April 1st, so if you are in Audubon or the surrounding area and that door is open, pop in and say hi.. take a look at what we’re doing.”
In a few weeks I’ll be stopping over at the Medford location which is also seeing significant upgrades. They have taken on additional space which will allow them to move the brewery area out of the tasting room… which will allow the team to create a defined performance stage area!
And of course I’ll be back to cover the Audubon opening! Cheers!
