The Centerton Square Shopping Center in Mount Laurel has several new businesses in the works including Tommy’s Tavern, &Pizza, Bath and Body Works, and Crumbl.
A fully remodeled and expanded Chick-fil-A also reopened 2 months ago after an extended closure.
I stopped by this weekend to check on the construction progress on several of the businesses, and I share some images and information here.
I have some estimated opening dates, but not all!
Tommy’s Tavern & Tap – Mount Laurel
Last September wefirst broke the story of Tommy’s Tavern coming to Mount Laurel. They will be taking over the former TGI Friday’s property which sits at the front of the shopping center.
Tommy’s Tavern is a New Jersey based family owned chain of restaurants, with 9 locations currently open (7 in New Jersey, 1 in Newark Delaware, and 1 in Staten Island).
A New Jersey Monthly review last year of the Bridgewater NJ location described it as a “Sports bar and restaurant with modern, upscale vibe”
Recently Tommy’s Tavern officially confirmed they were coming to Mount Laurel on their Instagram, sharing an artist rendering of the remodeled building and adding “Coming Summer 2023” (Instagram)
Locally, they recently also got a little boost in social media when the official Township of Mount Laurel Facebook page promoted the upcoming restaurant and bar, sharing that same rendering of the upgraded building.
The TGI Friday’s building was a solid and attractive structure so it’s not like the Tommy Tavern team needed to do too much to it on the outside.
The exterior will see some minor façade updates for awnings and signage, but the big outside change is the multi season patio area.
In my visit you can see they have a steel structure in place to support the patio and soon they’ll start building out the space.
Construction fencing surrounds the property and I respected that, so it did not get up to the windows to see what was happening inside… but I’ll have more as construction progresses!

&Pizza
Pronounced “And Pizza” the location seems 100% ready to go, even the “hours open” signage is on the glass.
But their website still lists the Mount Laurel location as “Coming Soon”. I
I had a brief exchange with their support team via their text support system and they simply said that no opening date is set as of yet.
They new location of &Pizza is also at the front of the shopping center along Centerton Square, in the original Starbucks location (Starbucks last year moved into the former Arby’s restaurant building)
This &Pizza location and building is in the same area as Tommy’s Tavern, in a separate area across a small expanse of parking lot. Chipotle is also in the building.
I did visit an &Pizza one time and that was in Cherry Hill, but I did not get a chance to eat there. I could not find a lot of online information that would tell us what’s different about the pizza chain so I started an order with the Cherry Hill location to learn more.
Based on the menu it looks like they focus on oblong individual pizzas, pizza knots and cookies.
Bath and Body Works
In January I let readers know that a Bath and Body Works location was coming to Centerton Square, to be located directly next to the Bed, Bath and Beyond.
In my recent visit I could see that construction has started on the Bath and Body Works, with dark blue construction panels in place to block construction efforts taking place inside. Signage on those panels clearly indicate that Body Works is under construction, and that they are hiring.
Bath and Body Works is a global leader in personal care and home fragrances, including the number one selling collections for fine fragrance mist, body lotion and body cream, three-wick candles, home fragrance diffusers and liquid hand soap.
At the Facebook page where I share articles and in town groups, many made the joke about the confusion regarding both ath and Body Works, and Bed, Bath & Beyond being next to each other… Unfortunately soon after my January post, bed Bed, Bath & Beyond announced the closing of the Mount Laurel store.
An exact opening date is not stated but as mentioned they are actively hiring. I would expect we should see them open this summer.
Crumbl Cookies
It’s only been a month since we announced that Crumbl was coming to the Centerton Square Shopping Center, taking over the space previously occupied by C2 education. It is the same building that has Panera bread on the left hand side.
Crumbl Cookies is a rapidly growing premium cookie bakery/brand which has a following which can only be described as “fanatical”.
The cookies are larger and thicker than what most consider to be a traditional cookie, and they have hundreds of creative recipes in their repertoire.
But they have an innovative marketing plan to drive customers back to their stores again and again… they only offer 6 flavors each week, changing the menu every Monday morning. Customers flock to the stores with a goal of getting a favored cookie from that same week.
In my March article I did not have an expected opening date.
UPDATE: I’ve heard from owner Jericho that they expect Crumbl to open late summer, possibly early Fall!
