Castle Harbor Restaurant Delran Not Reopening – Business For Sale

Loved by generations of Burlington County families since the 1950s, ownership of the Castle Harbor Restaurant (and Ice Cream) in Delran announced yesterday they will not be reopening for the 2025 season.

The business is now listed for sale with Real Estate Firm Feinberg and McBurney (Linked-in Listing)

Originally opened as the area’s first frozen custard restaurant in the early 1950s by “Captain Lou”, the Castle Harbor “Drive-In” Restaurant expanded their offerings over the years to include a delicious breakfast and lunch menu… and of course they still offer their amazing frozen custard treats!

Operating just 10 months of the year, as it came time to reopen… yesterday owner Jim Dapontes announced on the restaurant’s Facebook page that he would not be reopening Castle Harbor.

He expressed how much he’s valued his customers and support that locals have shown him. Additionally gift cards purchase it will be refunded.

The location of Castle Harbor is on St. Mihiel Dr (River Road) in an area that is dense with suburban neighborhoods and other businesses. Not too far behind the property is a small harbor which is lined by several marinas… The waterway leading into the Delaware River.

As mentioned the property is listed for sale… interested buyers can reach out to Harriet Summers of Feinberg and McBurney. (Linked-in Listing)

This longstanding local restaurant has been a cherished dining destination for years, known for breakfast, lunch, and irresistible ice cream treats. With a devoted following, this establishment is not just a restaurant but a community staple!

This is more than just a business; it’s a chance to own a beloved local institution. With a strong foundation already in place, there is possibility to take this restaurant to the next level, maximizing its potential and increasing profitability.

Real Estate Listing for Castle Harbor Restaurant Delran – Feinberg & McBurney (Linked-in Listing)

The real estate listing highlights both the popularity of the restaurant but then also calls out several areas of potential growth for a new owner.

First, Castel Harbor was only operating for breakfast and lunch, so clearly expanded operating hours and dinner menu would increase revenue.

Additionally they do not offer any delivery services… Which for many restaurants is a significant part of their revenue streams. So you wonder if a new owner kept everything exactly the same and simply added delivery services… what the positive revenue impact would be?

And as mentioned the restaurant is only open for 10 months of the year, and a new owner could keep the restaurant open year round.
