A Chipotle boom is taking place in the 42Freeway area, with another one proposed for Blackwood-Clementon Road, at the site of the former Denny's Restaurant. The Denny's building would be demolished to make way for a new building, which will have space for a future second retail client.
The Jefferson (Kennedy) Hospital in Washington Township is undergoing a massive $205 million expansion, with the key feature being a new 7 floor patient tower with 60 private rooms (and room for 60 more). The Phase 1 eight level parking garage has quickly risen at the far edge of the property, and is targeted for a spring 2019 opening.
The Phase 1 garage is $23 million of the budget, and is necessary (first) because the hospital property is surrounded by other businesses limiting room to expand “wide”, so to accommodate the new patient tower (in current parking areas) Jefferson needed to offset with additional parking in only one way… going up!
Work will begin on the new patient tower as soon as the parking garage is complete, and according to the Jefferson website the tower will be completed in Spring 2021
The tower will actually offer much more than just rooms, as it will offer (from the Jefferson site):
- A spacious, 2-story light-filled Hospital Lobby with a café and other visitor amenities
- New Hospital Cafeteria with outdoor seating
- New Same-Day Surgery Unit & Recovery Room (PACU)
- New Central Processing Distribution Center (CPD)
