The long beloved Geets Diner in Williamstown NJ has reopened for limited hours this week, ahead of their Saturday March 24th Official Grand Opening!

42Freeway stopped in for breakfast Tuesday morning around 7:15am, and was told that they will be open today (and Wednesday/Thursday) until 8pm, and they will adjust hours later in the week.

The upcoming mid-week Snowmageddon should help keep the crowds manageable before Saturday’s Grand Opening.

The Sportsbar/Lounge was also remodeled along with the outdoor patio, and they hope to have that reopened for the Saturday Grand Opening also. It seems this winter’s weather has affected their ability to finish off some of Bar’s outside entrance work.

Geets Diner and it’s large front sign on the Black Horse Pike and Rt 322 have been a community landmark for decades. People were shocked in August of 2016 when the prior owners abruptly closed.

More recently, published reports from last year show that area resident Sandy Cannon purchased the diner, along with partners from the nationally recognized Franklinville Inn.  Based on the timing of those articles, the remodeling has taken longer than the new owners anticipated, but the quality in work shows.

The diner remodel was had many modern touches and lighting, but definitely keeps that old school diner feel!  The bathrooms are gorgeous (Well as gorgeous as diner bathrooms can be!  Ha.), and plenty of seating at the counter.  There is  a second dining area off to the side (which was closed when I visited), and the Sports Bar Lounge is in the back.  As mentioned I didn’t get to see the Lounge, but I hear they will have amazing pizza!

I also appreciate the large waiting area for when things get busy!  So many great diners in our area which really don’t give a lot of room for waiting customers.

Speaking of waiting customers… give the owners and workers a little slack over the first few weeks, please.  Geets Diner was loved by all, and add in they’ve been closed for 18+ months, that in the next few weeks EVERYONE will want to check it out at the same time, and it will definitely make for larger crowds.  So expect at times the service may be a littler slower, or maybe they make a mistake.  But give them some slack. Its all new employees, and in an all new facility!  I expect great things from the diner and staff, but I mention this because when the Brooklawn Diner reopened with an even longer delay, I followed customer’s comments regarding it and.. well, just give Geets some slack!

We’ll be back next week for the lounge opening.

The Geets Facebook page created a grand opening event.

Geets Diner & Lounge will be opening on Saturday, March 24th for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 10am..Geets’ new owner, management team and staff along with various contractors have been working diligently to make sure that when we open our establishment to the public, that everyone will be sure to see how all of our hard work and efforts have transformed the beloved Williamstown landmark into a place that people of all ages will enjoy visiting over and over again!  So mark ur calendar to join us on March 24th & help us celebrate this wonderful occasion

While we’ve all been suffering with a snowy, wintery March… Williamstown is having a pretty good month with the opening of Geets, and two breweries; 13th Child and Cross Keys Brewing Company!  Plus I saw indications of another exciting eatery’s construction starting.

Good luck to the owners and staff. We are very happy to see this remain a community institution, and not another gas station convenience store!
