One month ago today, Shana’s Wild Fig Restaurant opened on the Black Horse Pike in the Historic Blackwood Downtown district. Owner Shana Mastranduono is so local she grew up in Blackwood and is a Highland High School graduate!! Shana has a very diverse culinary background and she carries that into her regularly changing menu. Italian, American, Mexican, Asian and more… she loves to bring her creativity to her dishes.

About 2 months ago Bed Bath & Beyond announced that they may close up to 40 stores (plus 20 other concepts), and recently we learned that the store at 141 Tuckahoe Rd in Sewell is closing. The banner hanging across the entrance makes it clear “STORE CLOSING”.
For almost two decades in the 60s and 70s, when listing the centers of the entertainment world; Cherry Hill’s Latin Casino could be said in the same list as Hollywood and Vegas. Last week Netflix released their epic Scorcese film “The Irishman” which is about mob member Frank Sheeran but the story delves deep into the Hoffa mafia empire… and the Latin Casino is recreated in a key scene in the 3.5 hour long movie.
The Empire Diner has taken over the famed Brooklawn Diner! They have brought back the 24 hour / 7 days schedule, and they claim to have the largest menu in South Jersey!
Learning Center Day Care is the building going up behind the new Cinder Bar – Cross Keys, according to town Planning Board documents and their 2018 Town Fact Sheet. Interestingly, I can’t find any other information on the day care based on that name. No Facebook page, no website announcing “coming soon”.
The Cinder Bar – Cross Keys Facebook page made the official announcement this morning… they set an opening date for December 16th! They have also been posting interior photos on the page, and the place looks AMAZING! They really do have a great design team for the restaurants… hitting home runs in creating an “upscale casual” experience.
