The Mantua Zoning and Development board has the hearing scheduled for November 17, 2020 at 7:00pm. The public notice seems to indicate this is an in-person hearing to be held at the Mantua Municipal Building.
While know mostly for their tires, these stores also offer additional “light” auto services such as brakes, alignments, engine repair and a host of maintenance items; fluid changes for oil, transmission and radiator… battery replacements, headlights, AC service and more. While I’ve never used Firestone myself, it seems similar to Pep Boy’s garage services.
The location is on the northbound side of the busy Bridgeton Pike (Rt 45) roadway, at an intersection which has a jug-handle for left turns, and should offer easier access for drivers trying to enter the Firestone location.
Across the street at this 3-way intersection (at the point) is the well loved Telford Inn restaurant, which traces its start back to 1812!
There are homes in the immediate area, but this property starts a long stretch of retail/commercial properties on Route 45, as immediately North of the location is a Walgreens, Taco Bell, the old K-Mart Shopping center, Kohl’s, Home Depot and more!
Just 150 yards away directly behind the Telford Inn, is long-standing Dempsey’s Tire Center. Locals are already expressing their loyalty to stick with Dempseys!
The K-mart building was approved this summer to be developed into a large 98,-000 sq ft indoor storage facility.
And in the parking lot directly in front of the old K-Mart, a new Autozone store is being developed.
The Firestone notice calls out some type of prior legal proceeding, that at this time 42Freeway doesn’t know the details of, but I am sure someone in the Facebook comments will give us the details. Just something I haven’t seen listed in a notice previously.
This hearing is being conducted pursuant to a judgment entered in the Superior Court of New Jersey by the Honorable Benjamin C. Telsey, A.J.S.C. on September 25, 2020.
